AI Arena (ArenaX Labs) / NRN Agents
AI Arena / NRN Agents — a reference card for a crypto project: what the product does and how verifiable the project’s key claims are; also — alignment with the Decentralized AI thesis (DecAI Fit).
AI Arena — a game/platform where users train AI characters for competitions; the associated ecosystem token is NRN (Neuron) on Arbitrum One.
Disclaimer
Important: this page is a reference overview of the project. Within DecAIHub, we separately record a verification based on open sources within the AI thesis (what is real AI/onchain/why a token, and which sources this is based on).
This is not financial advice and not a recommendation to buy/sell/hold any asset. We do not assess price, returns, or entry/exit timing.
Conclusions are based on publicly available materials found as of the verification date. The absence of confirmation does not imply the absence of the technology.
TL;DR (for readers who are not into AI)
- What it is: a game in which players create/train AI fighters and compete; additionally — “NRN Reinforcement Learning” and an ecosystem around agent models.
- Who it’s for: players and teams who want to “train characters” (models/agents) and take part in competitions; partners/studios that integrate into the SDK/agent ecosystem.
- Why onchain/token: the NRN token is used for staking mechanics and economic primitives (for example, “Data Capsules” and staking mechanics — per the whitepaper); the onchain component is also tied to attributes/economics and trackable integrations.
- What you can actually touch (Tier‑1): the official website/product entry point (see
links_* → App / Demo) and the whitepaper.
How it works (very briefly)
- The player does: plays and assembles/trains their AI character (agent) for fights/competitions.
- The system does: uses ML/RL approaches to train and improve agents (per the NRN Agents whitepaper).
- The player receives: a stronger agent/character and participation in competitions; the economic mechanics are tied to the token.
- Where the blockchain is: the NRN token is onchain (Arbitrum One); some of the economic mechanics are described as onchain elements (for example, staking, on-chain attributes) — per the whitepaper.
- Token role: NRN participates in staking/locks and in the “Data Capsules” mechanics and other utilities (per the whitepaper).

General project overview
AI Arena is a project that connects gaming experience and training of AI characters. The project documentation emphasizes the mission to “foster AI intuition and literacy”, while the NRN Agents whitepaper sets out the motivation and mechanics of Reinforcement Learning and the “agents” ecosystem, as well as the tokenomics/economic mechanics of the NRN token.
Features/modules
- The AI Arena game (competitive format).
- NRN Reinforcement Learning and the “Trainer Platform / Data Capsules” (per the whitepaper).
- NRN economy: staking/locks, integrations and revenue segments (per the tokenomics section of the whitepaper).
Typical scenarios
- Scenario 1: a player plays/collects data → takes part in training/improving an agent → uses the agent in competitions.
- Scenario 2: an NRN holder stakes/locks tokens → participates in the “Data Capsules” mechanics and the ecosystem economy (per the whitepaper).
Getting started (wallet/network)
- What you need: for the token — an EVM wallet; for the game — access to the client/platform (see the AI Arena documentation).
- Network/chain: Arbitrum One (the NRN token).
- Fees: Arbitrum gas for token operations/onchain mechanics.
Architecture/tech (non‑AI)
- Components: game client/platform (offchain) + smart contracts on Arbitrum for the token and economic primitives; the details of the contract set are partially disclosed through the public audit.
- Where logic runs: training/game computations — predominantly offchain; token accounting/some economic actions — onchain (Arbitrum).
Token/economics (expanded, no forecasts)
- Token utility: the whitepaper describes that NRN “powers the NRN ecosystem”, including staking/locks for “Data Capsules” and other segments (B2B integrations, Trainer Platform, AI Arena).
- Protocol necessity drivers: in the whitepaper, NRN is used for economic mechanics (for example, locking/staking); however, specific “mandatory payments” in the token for the key service are described ambiguously (some B2B payments may be in stablecoins).
- Issuance/burn: the token contract sets MAX_SUPPLY and has a
burn()function. - Distribution/vesting: the tokenomics section of the whitepaper contains an allocation & vesting table (TGE June 2024).
Governance
- Who makes decisions: not set up as a DAO in the reviewed sources; the key source on the design is the whitepaper/documentation.
Security and incidents
- Audits: there is a public Code4rena report on “AI Arena” (see links_*).
- Bug bounty: not found.
- Threat model (brief): smart contract risks of the economic mechanics (staking/game contracts) + risks of the offchain part (servers, matchmaking, training).
Project status and timeline
- Current status: active; the NRN token is on Arbitrum One.
- Roadmap: https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/nrn-robotics/nrn-robotics-roadmap
Ecosystem/integrations
- Integrations: per the whitepaper, the ecosystem is oriented toward integrations with games/studios (B2B) and agent deployments; specific integrations require separate verification.
AI component of the project
- What is real AI here? The project directly works with training AI agents (Reinforcement Learning) and positions the game as a way to train/monetize AI characters.
- What is truly onchain? The NRN token on Arbitrum; some of the mechanics are described as onchain economics/attributes/staking.
- Why is a token needed? For staking/locks and economic mechanisms (for example, “Data Capsules” and staking mechanics — per the whitepaper). At the same time, many elements could also be implemented with other assets — this affects Token necessity.
- Red flags (based on the information found): onchain‑washing (the game/training part is inevitably offchain); token‑washing (some payments/integrations may not be in NRN). Double‑check: which specific game/economic actions actually require onchain contracts and NRN; how the contracts described in the audit are structured.

AI reality
AI_0 — AI intent (Tier‑1 roadmap) (1/0)
- AI_0 (decision): 0
- Claim (one line): AI is not only an intent: the whitepaper describes RL agents and their training as the current focus.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): AI is described as a central component, so AI_0 does not apply.
- Conflict note (if any): —
AI_1 — what the AI does (1/0)
- AI_1 (decision): 1
- Claim (one line): training and deployment of RL agents (AI characters) for games/competitions.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/nrn-reinforcement-learning/reinforcement-learning
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): Tier‑1 explicitly describes the ML/RL layer and the purpose of the agents.
- Conflict note (if any): —
AI_2 — demos/examples (1/0)
- AI_2 (decision): 1
- Claim (one line): the AI Arena documentation shows an existing game product/mechanics (how to play/overview).
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://docs.aiarena.io/
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): this is a reproducible “example” of the product, not just a promise.
- Conflict note (if any): —
AI_3 — metrics/quality (1/0)
- AI_3 (decision): 0
- Metrics: —
- Context (version/date/how measured): —
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — —
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): the reviewed sources contain no formalized quality metrics/model benchmarks.
- Conflict note (if any): —
AI_4 — tech description/architecture/versions (1/0)
- AI_4 (decision): 1
- Claim (one line): the whitepaper describes the principles of training NRN RL Agents and the related mechanics.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/nrn-reinforcement-learning/training-nrn-rl-agents
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): this is a technical description of the AI subsystem at the level of architecture/training process.
- Conflict note (if any): —
Onchain necessity
OC_1 — contracts/addresses/chain (1/0)
- OC_1 (decision): 1
- Chain: Arbitrum One
- Addresses/identifiers: token contract
0xdadeca1167fe47499e53Eb50F261103630974905 - Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://arbiscan.io/token/0xdadeca1167fe47499e53Eb50F261103630974905
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): there is an onchain contract with verified code and MAX_SUPPLY.
- Conflict note (if any): —
OC_2 — onchain beyond just a token (1/0)
- OC_2 (decision): 1
- What useful logic is onchain: staking/locks and economic mechanics related to Data Capsules/campaigns; the existence of a set of smart contracts is confirmed by the public audit.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/tokenomics/usdnrn-tokenomics-v2.0 ; https://code4rena.com/reports/2024-02-ai-arena
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): Tier‑1 describes onchain mechanics, and the audit confirms a broader smart contract surface than “just a token”.
- Conflict note (if any): —
OC_3 — onchain is critical (1/0)
- OC_3 (decision): 0
- “Replace the blockchain” test: the core value (game + training) can work without a blockchain; onchain here is rather for ownership/accounting/economics, but “it breaks down without it” is not proven in Tier‑1.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://docs.aiarena.io/
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): there is no strict argument for the necessity of trustless properties as a critical part.
- Conflict note (if any): —
Token necessity
TK_0 — no token (1/0)
- TK_0 (decision): 0
- Claim (one line): the project has a token, NRN (Neuron), on Arbitrum.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://arbiscan.io/token/0xdadeca1167fe47499e53Eb50F261103630974905
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): the contract and supply are verifiable onchain.
- Conflict note (if any): —
TK_1..TK_4 (1/0)
TK_1 — payment for the service (1/0)
- TK_1 (decision): 0
- Claim (one line): the whitepaper states that B2B clients can pay in a stablecoin or native tokens; an explicit “mandatory payment in NRN” for the core service is not proven.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/tokenomics/usdnrn-tokenomics-v2.0
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): the wording allows alternative payment assets.
- Conflict note (if any): —
TK_2 — incentives/collateral/penalties (1/0)
- TK_2 (decision): 1
- Claim (one line): the whitepaper describes NRN staking/locks for “Data Capsules” and staking mechanics in AI Arena.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/tokenomics/usdnrn-tokenomics-v2.0
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): a direct description of the token as an incentive/lock mechanism.
- Conflict note (if any): —
TK_3 — governance (1/0)
- TK_3 (decision): 0
- Claim (one line): governance via the token is not recorded as a mandatory component in the reviewed Tier‑1 sources.
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — —
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): there is no explicit DAO/governance process in the reviewed pages.
- Conflict note (if any): —
TK_4 — token is replaceable (1/0)
- TK_4 (decision): 1
- Claim (one line): staking/locks and reward mechanics could also be built on another asset with a change of design (this is not unique to NRN).
- Evidence: Tier‑1 — https://whitepaper.nrnagents.ai/tokenomics/usdnrn-tokenomics-v2.0
- Why sufficient / why not (one line): the whitepaper allows different revenue/payment rails and does not prove the irreplaceability of the token as the sole means.
- Conflict note (if any): —
