Disclaimer

Important: this page is a reference overview of the project. Within DecAIHub, we separately record a verification based on open sources within the AI thesis (what is real AI/onchain/why a token, and which sources this is based on).
This is not financial advice and not a recommendation to buy/sell/hold any asset. We do not assess price, returns, or entry/exit timing.
Conclusions are based on publicly available materials found as of the verification date. The absence of confirmation does not imply the absence of the technology.

TL;DR (for readers who are not into AI)

  • What it is: AI Protocol — a set of smart contracts and a product ecosystem for creating and monetizing tokenized AI agents and iNFTs (NFTs with “attached” AI functionality).
  • Who it’s for: creators of AI characters/agents and NFT owners, dApp developers, users of “intelligent” NFTs/agents.
  • Why onchain/token: onchain records ownership of AI assets/contracts and provides the economy/liquidity/staking/fees; the ALI token is the coordination layer (utility+governance+rewards).
  • What you can actually touch (Tier‑1): the ecosystem’s dApps and interfaces: https://aiprotocol.info (staking), https://ALIagents.ai, https://noahsark.ai, https://mycharacter.ai + the dev repository with contract addresses: https://github.com/AI-Protocol-Official/ai-protocol-v3-core.

How it works (very briefly)

  1. The user does: creates/configures an AI agent or “upgrades” an NFT into an iNFT (via a dApp), or stakes ALI/Pods.
  2. The system does: via smart contracts (ERC‑20 ALI, Pod ERC‑721, iNFT, Linker, bonding‑curve/shares, etc.) creates/accounts for onchain assets and the economy around them.
  3. The user gets: a tokenized AI asset (agent/iNFT), access to functions/the economy (staking/rewards/liquidity), the ability to interact via dApps.
  4. Where the blockchain is: ownership and economic primitives (contracts of the token/pods/iNFT/curves/fees) — onchain; part of the AI logic/multimodality — offchain (in the applications/the “intelligence layer”).
  5. Token role: ALI is used as the protocol currency/utility/rewards/governance; per the token code, it participates in the iNFT lifecycle (lock/consume) and supports vote delegation.

General project overview

Alethea / AI Protocol is an ecosystem that “packages” AI characters/agents and the assets associated with them into an onchain economy (tokens, NFTs, liquidity pools, fees and reward mechanics). In the whitepaper documentation, AI Protocol divides the system into “layers” (asset layer / settlement layer / smart contracts layer) and describes primitives such as Intelligence Pods, iNFT, as well as mechanics for launching “economies” for AI assets.

On the practical side, this manifests through a set of dApp interfaces (for example, for creating/managing agents, for turning NFTs into iNFTs, for generating AI characters), as well as through open repositories with code and smart contract addresses (ALI ERC‑20, Pod ERC‑721, iNFT, etc.).

Features/modules

  • Asset layer: Intelligence Pods, iNFT, other AI assets (ARKIVs, etc.) as onchain objects and “keys” to functions.
  • Smart contracts stack: ALI (ERC‑20), Pod (ERC‑721), iNFT, Linker, bonding curve / shares contracts, reward distributors (per the v3 repositories).
  • dApps/interfaces: ALIagents.ai (launchpad/operational interface), NoahsArk.ai (fusion NFT→iNFT), MyCharacter.ai (a text‑to‑character interface on CharacterGPT), plus staking campaigns/pools on aiprotocol.info.

Typical scenarios

  • Scenario 1 (agent creator): goes to ALIagents.ai → creates/configures an AI agent/associated asset → receives an onchain asset and access to the economy/liquidity around it.
  • Scenario 2 (NFT owner): goes to NoahsArk.ai → “fusion” (connecting an Intelligence Pod and the iNFT layer) → receives an iNFT that can be used interactively as a character/agent.
  • Scenario 3 (economy participant): stakes ALI or Pods → receives rewards/participates in the protocol’s security mechanics.

Getting started (wallet/network)

  • What you need: an EVM wallet (for Ethereum) for operations with ALI and the iNFT protocol contracts; access to the dApp websites.
  • Network/chain: Ethereum mainnet (the ALI contract and the iNFT contracts); the ecosystem also has “L2/side” ALI addresses (BSC/Polygon/Base) per the repository.
  • Fees: Ethereum gas for interacting with the contracts; dApp/protocol fees (if enabled) — depend on the specific operation.

Architecture/tech (non‑AI)

  • Components: a set of smart contracts (ALI ERC‑20; Pod ERC‑721; iNFT; iNFT Linker; bonding curves/shares; reward distributors) + dApp frontends.
  • Participant roles: creators of AI assets; dApp users; ALI holders; infrastructure providers (RPC/wallets/marketplaces).
  • Where logic runs: ownership/economy — onchain (Ethereum); AI inference/multimodal functions — offchain (via applications/integrations).
  • Dependencies: Ethereum infrastructure (RPC, wallets, explorer), external dApps/services, NFT marketplaces (for example, OpenSea — for collections).

Token/economics (expanded, no forecasts)

  • Token utility: the documentation describes ALI as a coordination/liquidity layer: staking, liquidity pairings, dApp services/premium features, rewards and governance.
  • Protocol necessity drivers: per the token code, ALI participates in the iNFT lifecycle (locked upon creation, released upon destruction, consumed upon upgrade) and also supports vote delegation.
  • Who pays fees: users of the Ethereum network — gas for transactions; also participants of protocol operations (depending on the dApp).
  • Where fees go: depends on the specific contracts/distributors (fee/rewards distributors are described in the v3 perimeter).
  • Issuance/burn: a fixed initial issuance of 10B (minted in the deploy tx), minting of new tokens is not envisaged; burning is possible (token burnable) → the total supply may decrease.
  • Security/incentive mechanisms: staking campaigns (on aiprotocol.info), reward systems/distributors in the v3 contracts.
  • Distribution and token issuance schedule: — (per Tier‑1, the distribution/vesting table was not extracted from the whitepaper).
  • Treasury: — (per Tier‑1, no description of a treasury process was found).

Governance

  • Who makes decisions: governance via ALI is claimed (Alethea DAO); technically, the token supports vote delegation.
  • How protocol parameters change: via contract upgrades/deployments and governance processes (the details of the procedure were not recorded per Tier‑1).
  • Where: —.
  • Keys/multisig: AccessControl roles (the breakdown of roles/operators for each contract was not extracted separately in this card).

Security and incidents

  • Audits: audits (PDF) and resolutions of findings are published in the v3 repository; an audit is separately mentioned for the token (HackMD).
  • Bug bounty: —.
  • Incidents: — (no public postmortems are recorded per Tier‑1).
  • Threat model: contract risks (bugs in bonding/rewards/ACL), risks of AccessControl keys/roles, risks of offchain AI inference (quality/injections/leaks), risks of the dApp frontends.

Project status and timeline

  • Current status: the protocol and token are active; public dApps and open‑source v3 repositories exist.
  • Key milestones: deployment of ALI ERC‑20 v2 on Ethereum (2021‑10‑12); the ai-protocol-v3-core/periphery repositories indicate version 3.0.1 and a set of contracts/addresses.
  • Roadmap: — (not listed in links_*).

Ecosystem/integrations

  • Integrations: dApps (ALIagents.ai / NoahsArk.ai / MyCharacter.ai), NFT marketplaces (for example, OpenSea for collections), DEX (Raydium — mentioned for the agent economy in the dApps documentation).
  • Partners/funds: the website lists “Backed by …” (Alliance/Binance/Bitkraft/Crypto.com/Galaxy/Multicoin, etc.).
  • Where it’s actually used: creation/management of agents/characters and iNFTs via dApps; staking campaigns on aiprotocol.info.

AI component of the project

  • What is real AI here? AI agents/AI characters and “intelligent” NFTs are described as interactive, multimodal entities (creation/training/interaction via dApps; CharacterGPT/the intelligence layer in the documentation).
  • What is truly onchain? ALI ERC‑20 (Ethereum), the Pod ERC‑721, iNFT, iNFT Linker contracts and the periphery contracts (shares/bonding curves/fee+reward distributors) with public addresses.
  • Why is a token needed? ALI acts as the protocol currency/coordination layer (staking/liquidity/services/rewards) and a governance instrument; per the code, it participates in the iNFT lifecycle (lock/consume) and supports vote delegation.
  • Red flags (based on the information found): the AI part includes offchain components (inference/multimodality), so it is important to look at where exactly the “intelligence” is executed and how it is verified; it is also important to assess the centralization of AccessControl roles in the onchain contracts.
