Botto

Botto — a reference card for a crypto project: what the product does and how verifiable the project’s key claims are; also — alignment with the Decentralized AI thesis (DecAI Fit).

Botto — an AI/Other / Consumer project (a decentralized “autonomous artist” and DAO governance of generative art), token (symbol: BOTTO).

Disclaimer

Important: this page is a reference overview of the project. Within DecAIHub, we separately record a verification based on open sources within the AI thesis (what is real AI/onchain/why a token, and which sources this is based on).
This is not financial advice and not a recommendation to buy/sell/hold any asset. We do not assess price, returns, or entry/exit timing.
Conclusions are based on publicly available materials found as of the verification date. The absence of confirmation does not imply the absence of the technology.

TL;DR (for readers who are not into AI)

  • What it is: a generative art project where an algorithm creates many variants (“fragments”), and the DAO provides feedback by voting, influencing further generation.
  • Who it’s for: community members/collectors interested in generative art and joint governance of the directions of generation.
  • Why onchain/token: the BOTTO token is used for participation in the DAO (voting/staking/rewards), and the final works are regularly minted and auctioned (the docs mention SuperRare).
  • What you can actually touch (Tier‑1): the voting dApp — https://botto.com/app/vote

How it works (very briefly)

  1. The user does: opens the dApp and votes for the fragments they like (the docs describe Voting Points and staking).
  2. The system does: aggregates the community’s votes as feedback for the generative algorithm, which generates the next “round” of fragments.
  3. The user gets: participation in governing the artistic direction and, subject to conditions, access to rewards (per the docs).
  4. Where the blockchain is: the BOTTO token (Ethereum/Base) and onchain activity around minting/auctions (SuperRare is mentioned in the docs); in this card the onchain‑verifiable minimum is the token addresses.
  5. Token role: governance/staking/rewards (per the docs).

General project overview

Per the Tier‑1 documentation, Botto is a “decentralized autonomous artist” that creates “fragments” weekly and offers them to the community. The community votes for fragments; the collective preferences are used as feedback for the generative algorithm to steer the next iteration of generation.

Once a week Botto mints one work as the final one and auctions it on SuperRare. The docs state that a share of the proceeds (40%) is returned to the community as rewards for contributing to voting.

The same docs list the models/approaches used: Botto started with VQGAN + CLIP and later added open‑source diffusion models (Stable Diffusion, Kandinsky, Flux).

Features/modules

  • Weekly rounds: generation of fragments + voting.
  • DAO feedback loop: participants’ votes as a signal for the algorithm.
  • Mint + auction: regular mint of the final works and an auction (SuperRare).
  • Staking / Voting Points / Rewards: participation and reward mechanics (per the docs).

Typical scenarios

  • Scenario 1: a user opens the dApp → votes for fragments → participates in shaping the algorithm’s “taste”.
  • Scenario 2: a participant stakes BOTTO → gets access to extended participation/reward mechanics (per the docs).

Getting started (wallet/network)

  • What you need: you can start voting by creating an account and opening the dApp; “full membership” requires staking BOTTO (per the docs).
  • Network/chain: Ethereum and/or Base (the docs list the key contracts in both networks).
  • Fees: gas of the chosen network for staking/token operations.

Architecture/tech (non‑AI)

  • Components: the BOTTO token (Ethereum/Base), the voting dApp, staking/reward mechanics, integration with a marketplace for auctions (SuperRare is mentioned in the docs).
  • Where logic runs: art generation and vote processing — per the description, an offchain process; onchain — the token and mint/auctions.

Token/economics (expanded, no forecasts)

  • Distribution: the docs contain the initial distribution (100,000,000 BOTTO; allocations by category) and a snapshot of the current distribution (as of 2024‑11‑30).
  • Burn: the docs list the number of burned tokens (total burned).
  • Participation mechanics: the docs describe staking, voting and rewards.

Governance

  • Who makes decisions: BottoDAO (via voting; the docs also mention snapshot proposals as a source of change history).

Security and incidents

  • Audits: a security review PDF is listed in the links.
  • Bug bounty: — (not found in Tier‑1 sources).

Project status and timeline

  • Current status: an active cycle of weekly rounds + voting/auctions (per the docs).

AI component of the project

  • What is real AI here? Art generation by an algorithm and the evolution of the generative model/pipeline based on community feedback (per the docs).
  • What is truly onchain? The BOTTO token (Ethereum/Base), as well as onchain mint/auctions (SuperRare is mentioned in the docs), but the addresses of the NFT/auction contracts were not recorded in this card.
  • Why is a token needed? Per the docs: participation in voting/staking/receiving rewards and the governance mechanics.
  • Red flags (based on the information found): the onchain part is mostly about the token and NFT activity; the product is not an “AI protocol” (it is a consumer product with DAO governance).
